Service Description
**Please note that this class is for UAL students only. Students unable to present a valid UAL student ID at their first class will not be admitted without prior notice.* This course is perfect for beginners who are interested in developing confidence in their pottery skills, or for those who are looking for an engaging, creative activity for a couple weeks. Beginners classes are a mix of closely guided tutoring and self directed development. Students will expand upon their previous knowledge of clay and also learn about clay manipulation at several stages in the process including turning and glazing. Students will have ample time to practice throwing at the wheel and can elect to opt for handbuilding if they so wish and discuss with the tutor. We aim to make sure students leave with more skills, confidence, and several pieces of work that are truly handmade by themselves from start to finish. What follows is a rough outline of what will be taught week to week: Week 1 - Introduction to throwing Week 2- Trimming and throwing Bigger Week 3- Trimming and handbuilding Week 4- Glazing Before the lesson please cut your nails and wear old clothes or anything you don't mind getting messy! (Clay does come out!) On the day of your lesson please wait at the black gate and call the number on the gate. We will come and collect you! If you are traveling or self-isolating please be aware before booking and please contact us if you need to amend your booking. Class starts at 7:30pm and roughly ends at 9:30pm We understand that a 4 week commitment is a big ask. We give our students a chance to make up for one lesson in another tutor group so if you know in advance please let us know and we will try to put you into a parallel class. If you miss more than one class we cannot offer taught time however you will be able to do a self directed drop in for the time you have missed.
